Philosophy Celebrates Sweet Sixteen

Skin care brand philosophy marks 16th birthday

It’s been 16 years since forward-thinking skin care brand Philosophy appeared on the beauty scene, with its catchy names, nod to the human spirit and product performance. Philosophy was created by entrepreneur and visionary, Cristina Carlino, who previously developed Biomedic, the medical skin care company. Biomedic was distributed in plastic surgeon and dermatologist offices around the world. Philosophy drew from Biomedic’s medical-based formulations and ingredients, and evolved into a cutting-edge skin care company.
To celebrate its birthday, Philosophy created a limited-edition shower gel—Sweet 16—which is sweetly scented with cinnamon buns, a perennial customer favorite and one of the company’s best-selling shower gel scents.

In 2010, Coty Inc. acquired Philosophy, allowing Coty to further diversify and expand its prestige division.
